Not fair for Hindu Judges to sit and decides on Death penalty to minorities. Simranjit Singh Mann, Member of Parliament.

The Tribune dated 30th May 2023.

Comments by Simranjit Singh Mann: Shiromani Akali Dal (Amritsar) states that is against the death penalty as it is usually and commonly used against the minorities, the Sikhs and the Muslims.

In Europe death penalty has been banned.

In the Bhai Dawinderpal Singh Bhullar case of death sentence by a three member bench of the Supreme Court which had two Hindu Judges and the presiding judge was a Muslim, the Muslim judge totally exonerated Bhullar of all charges and the two Hindu Judges passed a death sentence on Bhullar.

Therefore, minorities are not safe in the hands when Hindu Judges decide their cases while awarding death sentences. Therefore, we don’t think that Malik, a Muslim will receive justice from a packed kangroo Delhi High Court. Our party would suggests that neither the NIA which has rightwing Hindu officers or the judges of the Delhi High Court should take up a case of death sentence to a member of a minority who God knows whether he is innocent or guilty.

In the recent inauguration of the new parliament in Delhi on 28th May 2023 I as a Member of Parliament in attendance saw the Hindutva agenda in the ascendance and I wondered whether this occasion was a prelude to the creation of a Hindu Rashtra giving up the secular constitution of 1950.
