Cowardly behaviour on Kant’s part to state that he succumbed to threats and lost an important report. No report is summited directly to the Chief Minister or Prime Minister. – Simranjit Singh Mānn

The Tribune Dated 25th April, 2022

Comments by Simranjit Singh Mann: Shiromani Akali Dal (Amritsar) states that in my long service in the Indian Police Service I have never come across a Police Officer of any rank handing over a probe report directly to the Chief Minister as Mr. Shashi Kant states.

Such reports are sent to the Home Secretary who forwards them to the Chief Ministers separate secretariat. In all cases from where the report is initiated, copies are kept in this case in the DGP’s office usually known as the CPO. Then the Home Secretary also keeps a copy and eventually the Chief Ministers Secretariat also has the final report.

Therefore, a strong probe should be launched by the Punjab Government to recover the report of Mr. Kant. Otherwise it would be believed that we are living in a Taliban like state which is perpetually in turmoil, which should not be the case in this instance.

Whenever, we rise to the rank of an IPS officer it is cowardly to state that we are threatened as a result we do not perform our legitimate duties. This is a behaviour unbecoming of an IPS officer who has risen to the rank of a DGP.
