Comments by Simranjit Singh Mann: Shiromani Akali Dal (Amritsar) states that during the regime of the rightwing extremist party the BJP-RSS, the standards in the armed forces are falling.
Officers of the armed forces do not go to Dhaba’s (country, way side eateries).
Officers dine and visit recognized restaurants and hotels or clubs to which they are affiliated to.
An officer of the rank of a Major visiting such an eatery would obviously get into trouble as it is only the rowdies and mannerless countrymen or ruralites who visit such places.
Our party has also takes a note that the Union BJP-RSS Government led by Premier Narendra Modi has ordered the Naval Officers that they can enter their Mess, wearing Kurta Pyjamas and Chappals.
This is a very un-officer like order and practice. Officers who lead soldiers into war must have high standards of living and keep a strict discipline so that the soldiers look up to them as models.
Our party is disappointed with this Hindutva regime which has let down the high standards of the military forces.
