Those responsible for cheetah deaths, their heads should roll. – Simranjit Singh Mann

The Tribune dated 07th August 2023

Shiromani Akali Dal (Amritsar) states that it is with a great foresight that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has filled the void in importing Cheetahs from South Africa and Namibia, as the indigenous species of the Indian Cheetahs had become extinct.

Normally the Cheetahs from Iran should have been imported as they have the blood lines of the sub-Continental Cheetahs that are extinct here. But possibly due to the BJP – RSS Hindutva policy the Union Government did not want to import this Asiatic Species from an Islamic Country.

Nevertheless, it was a good gesture of importing this species from South Africa and Namibia.

Since such a large number of Cheetahs have died along with their cubs, the responsibility must fall on the Union Environment and Forest Minister, along with the Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh and the professionals under whose care these Cheetahs were entrusted to. Unless this is done we do not think that these Cheetahs would survive, as the Climatic conditions at the Kuno National Park are more or less the same. World renowned top veterinary experts need to be consulted and this species be saved for posterity.

The Sikhs are interested in their survival as the X Master Guru Gobind Singh used Cheetahs while hunting. If during that period the Cheetahs survived in the areas of the Punjab, Haryana and Himachal Pradesh, there can be no reason for them not to survive in the lush jungles of Madhya Pradesh.

Our Party does not accept lame excuses and we hope the Prime Minister will fix the responsibility for the death of so many Cheetahs and their off springs and come down hard on the authorities that have been entrusted to their safety, breeding and welfare.
