Medals are worn fighting wars, battles, ingresses and skirmishes. – Simranjit Singh Mann

The Tribune dated 4th February 2022.

Comments by Sardar Simranjit Singh Mann: Shiromani Akali Dal (Amritsar) states that these are heavily medaled Generals. Wonder in which wars, battles and ingresses into enemy territory or skirmishes they have won these spurs?

We are sure that Cambodia will be able to profit by the “Tailor –made Military courses” but we must also be told how the Course of regaining lost territories in Ladakh and NEFA will be taught?

What will happen to the acute shortages in the Air Forces squadrons and how a two front war will be fought?

Soldiers win their honoured medals in wars, battles, ingresses and skirmishes. We want to know how the present four year tenured soldier will win such spurs. This is important as Sikh’s have active military history to ask such naïve blunders, which have not been learnt from the battles of Ayodhya and Mahabharat but active military service by VI Guru Hargobind Sahib, X Guru Gobind Singh, Baba Banda Singh Bahadar, Sikh Empire (1799-1849), First and Second World War’s, saving Kashmir from raiders in 1947, 1962, 1965, 1971 war of Lt. General Jagjit Singh Arora and Major General Shubeg Singh and last but not the least the military ingress of three nuclear powered armies of Britain, Soviets and Hindu India’s into the Darbar Sahib in Operation Bluestar of 1984 and its greatest defence battle put up by the stateless Sikh defenders under the leadership of Sant Jarnail Singh Bhindranwala and General Shubeg Singh, all of them fought to the last, were martyred but did not allow the three famous armies to capture the Sikh citadel for 72 hours. It was a greater defence battle that the Sikh’s fought at Saragarhi in 1897.
