With the election of President Ms. Droupadi Murmu, a Tribal, the extra judicial killings by Government forces of the Tribal’s have almost come to an end. -Simranjit Singh Mann
The Times of India dated 11th December 2022.
Comments by Sardar Simranjit Singh Mann: Shiromani Akali Dal (Amritsar) states that the Sikh’s have a deep love and respect for the tribal people.
Since Guru Gobind Singh grew up in Patna Sahib, his early youth was spent in playing with the Adivasis. Thereafter, the Sikh’s have dwelt a close association with them as they like the Sikh’s love and worship weapons.
The Adivasis or Tribal’s are the original inhabitants of the Indian sub-Continent. When the Aryans came to India (about 1500 BC) they were racist migrants. With their arrival they under Manu wrote the Hindu script – Manu –Smriti, which divided the inhabitants into four distinct groups or castes, which in order of seniority, the Brahmans receiving the highest hierarchy were followed by the Kshatriyas, then the Vaishyas and at the lowest level were the Sudras.
Sudras being of the lowest caste were prevented from performing religious rites like the study of the sacred Vedas.
They having being listed as such were made to perform inhuman duties and in this respect they began to be called the untouchables.
As the original inhabitants of the sub-Continent, the Aryans enslaved them and reduced them to the last order of the caste system or enslaved them. Those of them who were proud and honoured their liberty and freedom escaped to the thick forests of Central India. They have as tribal’s lived in these forests of Chatishgarh, Bihar, Orissa, Maharashtra and Jharkhand for centuries.
In 1947 when the British Indian Empire broke up, two states were formed, one Hindu India and the other Islamic Pakistan.
As the Brahmans took charge of Governance of Hindu India, businesses became to flourish. The higher castes began exploiting the natural wealth of the country. Since the thick forests where the Tribal’s or Adivasis lived and flourished, these forests had the precious minerals, hard wood timber and pristine waters, the upper caste businessmen began exploiting this easy wealth. But the Tribal’s who possessed these forests and its wealth began to oppose the exploitation of there forest treasures.
Pravir, King of Bastar (Pravir Chandra Bhanj Dev) who was the Maharaja of the Tribal’s resisted the influx of these avaricious businessmen. But these wealthy High Caste businessmen had the Hindu Indian Government on their side, had the Government forces shoot the Maharaja of Bastar dead in 1966. The Maharaja had matchlock guns, spears, axes and other obsolete weapons to stand up against the latest machine guns of the Government force.
After his martyrdom the Adivasis kept up their resistance to the Government forces, though much of their wealth fell into the hands of these upper castes and the Government. Apart from robbing the Adivasis of their wealth these businessmen with the support of the Government Force got hold of the young Tribal maidens, whom they sold to the red light areas of the metropolises. Some of these captured maids were kept as domestic help by the businessmen and also exploited.
But the Adivasis did not give up their struggle to keep these upper castes out of their forests. Gradually they organized themselves and began giving resistance to the Government forces. In order to subdue them the Union Government sent in its paramilitary forces. To overcome their resistance and to justify the force the Government was applying, it began giving an nomenclature to these resistance fighters and dubbed them as Naxalites and Maoists.
Our Party after 1990, learning of the brutality of the Government forces and killing these tribal’s in extra judicial murders began publicizing through the press, their unequal fight and plight. We think we succeeded to a certain extent but then, as luck would have it a Tribal leader Ms. Droupadi Murmu was elected as the President of the Hindu Indian state. After her becoming the President, as per our record only one fake killing of an Adivasi has come to light.
So if the BJP-RSS takes the credit for electing Madam Murmu as the President and is boasting that due to their political strategy they have elevated a Tribal lady to the highest political post of President, we do not mind, as with Madam Murmu coming to adorn the highest political post, the extra judicial killings by the Government forces of the Tribal’s have almost come to an end. Our Party is thankful and grateful to God that this tragedy of the forest people is coming to an end.
