Shriomani Akali Dal (Amritsar) states that this is one of the best articles published in the Tribune by a General. It is incisive and gives us all the vulnerable loopholes where Communist China can once again make an ingress into Ladakh.
When Premier Nerandra Modi has had two meetings with President Xi Jinping and before as Chief Minister of Gujarat, he had built up a strong friendship with Communist China since in that period the Americans had abrogated his visa to that country, we should have thought Communist China would do nothing to embarrass Premier Modi during the period he remains as the Premier.
In the hour of defeat it is best to be defiant but the General has revealed that the Hindu Indian state has a record “ bilateral trade figures of $125 billion wiyh Obviously it shows that the Hindu state has favourable relations with Communist China. Therefore why should Communist China give back to the Hindu state the areas it has seazed in 1962 and 2020.
The General has been critical of the ITBT being posted on the border. However in such circumstances this paramilitary force like the BJP is under the direct command of the army. Being a specialised force it knows the terrain and climatic conditions on this snow bound border. Since it is a specialised force it complements the army. On the other hand the army battalions on the border keep rotating and are not a permanent fixture on these stormy heights. Therefore, we think there should be no objection to the ITBP being posted in this terrain.
The paramilitary forces being posted with the army on the borders should have the same pay scales, facilities and allowances as the army.
