Comments by Simranjit Singh Mann: Shiromani Akali Dal (Amritsar) states that our party has no comments on Mr. Kwatra’s efficiency, hard work and integrity.
But the fact is that giving extensions to officers after they have retired mars the chances of other officer who have striven for over 35 years to reach the top.
It is always wise to give an officer a post retirement sinecure like a Governor or a Member The National Human Rights Commission.
Such extensions in service demoralize the rank and file of a service, whereby discontent and inefficiencies creep in.
The Foreign Office is an important branch of the Union Government and it must be run on merit as the Hindu state has strong nuclear armed adversaries on its borders.
However, our party is not critical on the extension give in to Mr. Kwatra what we are commenting on is the principle of such extensions in service.
