Comments by Simranjit Singh Mann: Shiromani Akali Dal (Amritsar) states that this is against the disciplen of the force, if officers are allowed to enter the Mess with their respective Kurta Pajama’s. In other words Kurta Pajamas are like night suits.

This mean that after waking up, the officers can enter the Mess in their Night suits-Kurta Pajama’s.

We think the officers will loose their respect and dignity if such laxity enters the armed forces.

Now with their Kurta Pajamas-Night suits will they wear their slippers and chappals?

The rightwing Hindutva leaders will henceforth ask the authorities that officers may wear their Dhotis.

We think that these orders are against the discipline of the forces and in war time this creeping in indiscipline will mar the quality and personality of the officers. This is a disgraceful order and a climb down in the standards of the armed services.

We suppose that officers will be allowed to chew beetle leaves and there will be spittoons placed in the Mess. Who will clean them? May be beedi smoking will also be allowed in the future.
