Comments by Simranjit Singh Mann: Shiromani Akali Dal (Amritsar) states that our party does not support capital punishment as this practice is out-dated, barbaric and in THIS (Theocratic Hindu Indian State) it is handed down to the minorities.

We do not think that Mr. Yasin Malik has received a fair trial which was heavily weighed by majoritarian Hindutva prejudices. Moreover, we do not understand why Mr. Malik should be kept away physically from the courts and the High Court.

I as a Member of Parliament have requested the Lt. Governor of Delhi Mr. Vinai Kumar Saxena to allow me to visit these jailed leaders Yasin Malik, Bhai Jagtar Singh Hawara and Sabir Shah but I have not been given permission to meet these minority leaders. I hope a liberal since of governance will prevail.
