Hindutva writers must write facts and mention the contributions of Sikh’s. – Simranjit Singh Mann

The Tribune dated 14 January, 2023

Shiromani Akali Dal ( Amritsar) states that majoritarian writers usually ignore facts. The Younghusband expedition to Tibet included a contingent of Sikh’s which the author refuses to mention.

Similarly the Lahore Darbar (Sikh Empire 1799-1849) annexed Ladakh in 1834 but in the Parliament and Hindutva historians mention General Zorawar Singh, a Dogra, having annexed Ladakh. This is true as General Zorawar Singh was a General of the Lahore Darbar.

Conversely can we Sikh’s say that Lt. General Harbakhs Singh in the 1965 war against Islamic Pakistan saved North India from going into the hands of Islamic Pakistan, had he withdrawn his forces to the left bank of the Bias, river as ordered by the Army Chief in Delhi, General Choudary.

The fact that he disobeyed the Chief’s orders and fought the battle to the last inch of the Hindu Indian state, didn’t it mean the Sikh’s had saved Hindu India.

Then in 1971 war with Islamic Pakistan, it was Lt. General Jagjit Singh Arora and Major General Shubeg Singh, the two Sikh Generals who brought about the creation of Bangladesh. Would it mean that the Sikh’s liberated Bangladesh?

We hope Hindutva writers will be honest and not skip facts to prove their manhood. Facts must be placed as facts. No Hera – Pheri, we are watchful.
