Shiromani Akali Dal (Amritsar) states that it is not only some people who did not support capital punishment for Afzal Guru but our party strongly advocated that Afzal Guru should not be sent to the gallows as capital punishment has not solved any criminal problem. In 2011 my party and I visited Kashmir and condoled with the family of Afzal Guru.

Our party is always in the fight for the moral truth and advocates the end of capital punishment which is meted out to the minorities in THIS (Theocratic Hindu Indian State).
