Comments by Simranjit Singh Mann: Shiromani Akali Dal (Amritsar) states that these committees can not succeed as there is no justice for the Muslims and Sikhs in Jammu & Kashmir which has no legislature, its autonomous structure has been abolished and there is ruthless governance in operation handled by un-elected bureaucrats and the armed services which have ruthless powers under the law AFSPA (Armed Forces Special Powers Act) to kill, maim, kidnap, abduct, murder, rape, molest, torture, detain any Kashmiri for an endless time, with impunity.

This act violates article 21 of the Constitution. Our party has appealed to the Supreme Court times out of number but it has consistently turned a blind eye and a deaf ear to our pleadings.

When the executive, legislature, judiciary and the press are on the same page to safeguard the interests of the majoritarian’s, then it is natural like the Pilgrim Fathers to think and find a solution elsewhere. Minorities should never be taken for granted by the four pillars of the state.
