Comments by Simranjit Singh Mann: Shiromani Akali Dal (Amritsar) states that our party which comes from a border state with Islamic Pakistan is happy that this country has been lifted off the grey list ie FATF.

Punjab being a landlocked state has no access to the sea. Therefore, it is important that our states border with Islamic Pakistan at Wagha-Attari be opened for trade, commerce and religious travel.

Being a landlocked state we want this border to be opened as we can send our farm produce and farm machinery to the states lying to the West of Islamic Pakistan, like Iran, Iraq, Syria, Gulf States, Mid Asia erstwhile Soviet states, Russia and Communist China.

Even the WTO requires that borders for trade should be opened which will be for the betterment of economic and friendly relations with neighbouring countries, in this case with Islamic Pakistan and Communist China. Nepal, another landlocked state has been blockaded twice by the Hindu Indian state under erstwhile Premier Rajiv Gandhi and presently Premier Narinder Modi.

Therefore, our party which stands by peace in South Asia would like the border at Wagha-Attari to be opened as quickly as possible.
