Shiromani Akali Dal (Amritsar) states that the Lok Sabha Ethics Committee under the heavy weight of BJP-RSS members acted as a Kangroo Court. This Committee was packed by hardcore BJP-RSS fanatic members who were working on the report of another BJP-RSS Member of Parliament Nishikant Dubey’s against a lonely opposition, out spoken speaker, Member of Parliament Mauha Moitra.

She was left alone to defend herself against these hardened BJP-RSS Members of Parliament.

The Ethics Committee Chief Vinod Kumar Sonkar asked her countless personnel questions which should never be asked of a lady Member of Parliament. These questions by Mr. Sonkar had nothing to do with the main charges brought by the Ethics Committee.

All the opposition parties also remained in the shadows and even Ms. Moitra’s political party the Trinamool Congress remained a silent spectator. Such proceedings appear to be a witch hunt against Ms. Moitra.

Ms. Moitra has been found to be remiss in asking a question in Parliament which went against the Adani Group for which the last Monsoon Parliament Session did not proceed because the entire opposition wanted a debate on the Adani Group.

Now having found Ms. Moitra remiss in a Kangroo Court the report of the Ethics Committee will go to other Hindutva fundamentalist Speaker Om Birla, who will without question agree with the findings of this Kangroo Court? Eventually this case will have to go to the Supreme Court for justice.

As a Member of Parliament I have found the working of Speaker Om Birla highly prejudicial to the minorities. Whenever, I have risen from my seat, requesting the Speaker to allow me to have a word, Mr. Birla gets highly exasperated, sits up without resting his back on his chair and hot spiritedly flings his left arm towards me which goes up and down, up and down repeatedly like a traffic constable stopping a violator of traffic rules. I think he suffers from a grave prejudice against a Sikh and the minorities.

In his long term as Speaker of the House he has brought in no reforms or created any precedents that would favour free speech. If I am incorrect Mr. Birla’s wild physical gestures pointed towards me can be seen on the Parliament film script.

I think all Members of Parliament who favour freedom of speech and expression must come prepared to Parliament in December to make it a spiritual and Ethical fight against this dictatorial behaviour of the Speaker, the Ethics Committee and the Lokpal who has without reason asked the CBI to probe the charges against a single lady with guts and courage who stands up to a Goliath and be as brave as David.

The Sikhs and our party will stand by the courageous Ms. Moitra through think and thin just like we have stood up against the genocidaire and wicked Operation Bluestar of 1984.

If I am wrong, it could be found from the timings since Mr. Om Birla became the Speaker of the House and how much time he gave to the minorities to speak and how much time he bestowed on the majoritarians to have their say in the House. I do not speak without facts.
