Comments by Simranjit Singh Mann: Shiromani Akali Dal (Amritsar) states that Friday prayers for Muslims are their religious right and considered very important and auspicious in Islam, but the ruthless government setup by the Hindutva Union Government does not allow religious freedom to the Muslims in Kashmir. Friday 13th October 2023 the Jamia Masjid in Srinagar was locked by Lt. Governor Manoj Sihna.

Similarly for the Sikhs, their religious freedom has also been tempered and dealt a death blow as elections to their Parliament the SGPC (Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee) which was constituted by law in 1925, have not been held for the last thirteen years.

What is worse is that Sikh dissenters are being assassinated in foreign countries like Canada, Britain, Islamic Pakistan and internally in states of Haryana and Punjab.

We think it is time that these breaches in freedom of religion should be noted by the US Commission on International Religious Freedom and the State Department must lodge a strong protest with the radicalized Hindutva Union Government of Premier Modi.
