Historically and morally a statue to Subhash Chandra Bose would be controversial. Dated 08th September 2022

Shiromani Akali Dal (Amritsar) states that our Party does not support the BJP- RSS led by Premier Nerandra Modi’s plan to raise a statue of Shubash Chandra Bose near India Gate in Delhi.

For our Party to fall in line with the extremist Hindutva BJP- RSS thinking on raising such a statue, we want to state that Gandhi and Nehru during World War II sent out Shubash Chandra Bose to ally with the Axis powers led by Hitler, Mussolini and Togo, of Germany, Italy and Japan respectively.

Subhash Chandra Bose was with Togo of Japan when Japan captured the Andaman Islands where the British had imprisoned Hindustani and Sikh freedom fighters, fighting against the British Raj. But Subhash Chandra Bose did not ask the Japanese to set free these freedom fighters which like him and Japan were fighting against the British.

The Axis powers committed horrendous Human Rights excesses against the people whose countries they had captured, but the worst was Nazi Germany whose dictator Hitler along with the Italian dictator Mussolini committed the genocide of six million Jews. Togo of Japan was equally cruel with his captors, apart from killing his captors like Hitler and Mussolini he had captured thousands of Korean and Chinese maids and used them as comfort maids for his troops.

The British in India also captured young maids and in their army cantonments, kept them in Sadar Bazar’s for the entertainment of the Tommies. In the 13th Lok Sabha I had as a Member of Parliament recorded that since World War II the Japanese had paid compensations to the comfort maids whom they had used for their soldier’s sexual pleasures. I put it to Prime Minister Vajpayee in the House whether India would also seek compensation for the Indian maids who were used by the British for rendering sexual pleasure to the Tommies. The BJP- RSS Union Government of Premier Vajpayee was not serious about taking up this issue with Britain and the right for compensation for the decedents of these ladies still lingers. Parliament records maybe seen by the Modi Union Government if I am wrong on this issue.

Therefore historically and morally it would be wrong of the BJP- RSS Union Government to raise a statue of Subhash Chandra Bose at India Gate in Delhi.
