Comments by Simranjit Singh Mann: Shiromani Akali Dal (Amritsar) states that we had thought and been assured by the BJP-RSS Modi Government that after Presidents rule was enforced in Jammu & Kashmir and its autonomy under articles 370 and 35A were revoked on 05th August 2019, peace, prosperity and tranquillity would prevail in Jammu & Kashmir. Now almost six years have lapsed and the Supreme Court has accepted that the decision of the BJP-RSS Union Government to abrogate articles 370 and 35A was right, we do not see any change in the complex situation of Kashmir which is going from bad to worse.

For peace we must explore the 1948 UNSC resolution for a plebiscite in Jammu & Kashmir, as all other means have failed to bring this unfortunate land, peace, democracy and rule of law.

Kashmir cannot be ruled by the armed forces with the barbaric law AFSPA (Armed Forces Special Powers Act) which allows the forces to kill, maim, kidnap, abduct, murder, rape, molest, torture, detain any person for an endless time, with impunity.

This law contravenes Article 21 of the Constitution which states that no person can be deprived of his life and liberty without following the procedure laid down by law. Yet the Supreme Court which is the guardian of the Constitution is not willing to strike this inhuman law and declare it ultra vires the Constitution.
