The Tribune dated 30th September 2023.

Comments by Simranjit Singh Mann: Shiromani Akali Dal (Amritsar) states that the party is happy that the Editor of The Tribune Mr. Rajesh Ramachandran is turning over a new leaf and we request that he should not address the Sikhs as terrorists or gangsters as these words hurt Sikh feelings. He must also pass on this advise to his correspondents- Mr. Sandeep Diksht, Mr. Ajay Banerjee and others who are in a Sikh bashing mood.

It is well to understand that Sikhism like the Buddhists and Jainism are an indigenous thought that has turned into a religious form. The other religions in the Indian subcontinent have come from abroad, including the majoritarinan Aryan Hindu religion. Therefore, the indigenous thought should be respected and the majoritarinans should stop committing the crimes of genocide, memoricide, vandalism and ethnocide on these indigenous peoples.

Sikhism preaches the Sarbat Da Bhala which means the welfare of all irrespective of religion, caste, creed and colour. If The Tribune understands these traits in its readers, we are sure that its popularity and understanding will grow.

The world terror was first used during the French Revolution of 1789, the disorder and anarchy in this revolution came to be called- the Raign of Terror. So this word should only be used with caution and a deep thought. The British too during their colonization of India began to use this word which coincidently applied to their rule and administration when they bye passed the rule of law and Principles of Natural Justice. We do hope that the Editor will understand the pain this word causes to the Sikh peoples.
