Shiromani Akali Dal (Amritsar) states that as I as a Member of Parliament made the request that this railway line should be stretched to Ladakh at Leh just as the Communist Chinese railway lines have reached the borders of Ladakh in Tibet. I had written that this is not impossible as railway trains operate at 14698 feet above sea level in Peru in South America.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

This is a good feat of engineering and the freight trains should also begin chugging up to Srinagar in Kashmir.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

We must remind the die hard Hindutva crony that it was the Lahore Darbar (Sikh Empire 1799-1849) that annexed Kashmir in 1819 after its conquest of Afghanistan, of which Kashmir was its province. The Emperor of Afghanistan Shah Shujah Durrani who also surrendered the coveted Kohinoor diamond to Maharaja Ranjit Singh which was forcefully taken out of the Lahore treasury of the Lahore Darbar by Lord Dalhousie and given to Queen Victoria in 1849. This Kohinoor rightly belongs to the Sikhs and it should we placed in the treasury of the Darbar Sahib (Golden temple) at Amritsar.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n
