Comments by Simranjit Singh Mann: Shiromani Akali Dal (Amritsar) states that since General Manoj Pandey is on a visit to the United States, we hope the US Defence Department and the Pentagon must seek information from him of the extra judicial killings of Sikhs, firstly way back in 2000 when former President Mr. Bill Clinton visited the Hindu Indian state. During his visit 43 innocent Sikhs were massacred by the armed forces in village Chitthisingpura in Kashmir. No investigation has been carried out by the state and the killers are still at large.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Recently three Kashmiri Muslims were massacred in cold blood by the army at Topa Peer, namely Shabir Ahmed (30), Safeer Ahmed (45) and Mohammad Showkat (22). No army officer has been held or been made responsible for these foul misdeeds.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

In Kashmir the army and security forces have unlimited powers under the law AFSPA (Armed Forces Special Powers Act) under which they can kill, maim, kidnap, abduct, murder, rape, molest, torture, detain any person for an endless time, with impunity.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

This law contravenes Article 21 of the Constitution which states that no person can be deprived of his life and liberty without following the procedure laid down by law. Yet the Supreme Court which is the guardian of the Constitution is not willing to strike this inhuman law and declare it ultra vires the Constitution.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

We do hope the General will be confronted for these un-democratic and inhuman acts by the armed forces, as it is thought that with QUAD USA, Japan, Australia and the Hindu Indian state are allies.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n
