THIS (Theocratic Hindu Indian State) should give up its old habits of gobbling smaller neighbouring states. Sikhs stand for peace in South Asia – Simranjit Singh Mānn

Comments by Simranjit Singh Mann:- Shiromani Akali Dal (Amritsar) states that Nepal is a sovereign landlocked country whose access to the sea is through THIS (Theocratic Hindu Indian State). For most part of its existence it has thrived under the shadow of THIS. Its foreign policy has generally been guided by the Hindu Indian State. Its most revered temple Pashputinath is as famous as Badrinath, Tripati, Dwarka, Jagennath Puri. With such a background, Nepal remains an example of secularism.
The Sikh’s have a great deal of respect for this country as after the fall of the Sikh Empire (1799 – 1849) the British kidnapped the young legitimate Maharaja Dilip Singh. His mother Maharani Jind Kaur was also to be captured by the British but this brave and gutsy Maharani made her way to Nepal where she received political asylum and was treated with respect as per her status. Therefore the Sikhs have always had great regard for this state.
The modus operandi of the Hindu Indian state since 1947 has been, where it wants to amalgamate another sovereign state with its own, it stirs up trouble and rioting in that state. Here in Nepal it has the Madhesis natives who are akin to the people of Behar, U.P. and Bengal. Twice in the past THIS has tried to gobble up this state. Late Premier Rajiv Gandhi and later present Premier Nerandra Modi have attempted to stir up trouble by working on the Madhesis to rebel. To fan the rebellion both these Premiers have laid an economic blockade of Nepal, almost starving the Nepalese to death. However the courageous Nepalese did not give in and stood their ground.
It was wrong of General Mukand Narevane to threaten Nepal with military action if Nepal got too big for its boots. The Central Army Command at Lucknow keeps a vigilant eye on Nepal and has a full scale plan to occupy it, if Delhi approves.
Stirring up trouble in the state that Delhi wants to occupy is its modus operandi as we have said. This tactic or shall be say trick was tried with Hyderabad, Kashmir, Junagarh, Goa and Sikkim.
It is churlish of The Tribune to state that all was hunky dory for THIS, all this while when it treated Nepal as a subsidiary state till the Marxists came to the fore. Our party thinks that it is right for Nepal to claim its lost territories like Lipulekh – Kala pani and Limpeyadhusa region. Our thinking is that if these territories are left with Nepal then in this region Nepal becomes a buffer state between Communist China and Hindu India and the latter which is not on good terms with the former will make it easier for it to govern its country or else Communist China, Islamic Pakistan and Nepal would make formidable and implacable enemies that the Hindu state can never take on all three militarily, with Russia leaning towards these three powers.
The Sikhs desire peace in South Asia and we hope the extremist Hindu’s in power will see the sense in not making all its neighbouring countries its enemies. The Sikhs have been dissatisfied with Hindu rule since 1947.
