Comments by Simranjit Singh Mann: Shiromani Akali Dal (Amritsar) states that we do not think that Army Chief General MM Naravane has made a wise decision by placing the border of Himachal Pradesh its LAC under the command of the Central Command which besides looking after the LAC in Uttar Khand also keeps a keen eye on Nepal and its border with Communist China.
Central Command is based in Lucknow and it is too far away from Himachal Pradesh’s border with Communist China. On the other hand, the Western Command can keep a better, keener and a swifter eye on Himachal Pradesh’s border with Communist China. Historically and ethnically Himachal Pradesh and its border with Communist China has always remained with the Western Command.
The important fact is that the Hindu Indian state should have Communist China vacate its aggression in Ladakh, not only in April 2020 but also the 39,000 Sq. Kms. that it surrendered to Communist China in 1962.
In our Party’s mind this change of Command’s is perfunctory. What needs to be done is to acquire new and modern weaponry and have Communist China moved out of Ladakh completely. It must not be forgotten that Ladakh is of great interest to the Sikh’s as it was annexed by the Lahore Darbar( Sikh Empire 1799-1849) in 1834 and it would be wise for a Sikh delegation to sit at the table when the Hindu Indian state deals with Communist China. Sikh’s have always considered themselves to be a sui generis sovereign people.
Facta non Verba.
