The legacy of Sardar Dyal Singh is wonderful but the trusts he founded like The Tribune and Colleges have all turned into radicalized Hindutva which propagate policies against Sikhism. – Simranjit Singh Mānn

Comments by Simranjit Singh Mann: Shiromani Akali Dal (Amritsar) states that Sardar Dyal Singh Majithia was a great Sikh philanthropist, but unfortunately the forces of Hindutva stole him into the fold of Hindu Arya Samaj.
He is the founder of The Tribune trust under which newspapers are printed in English, Punjabi and Hindi. Sadar Dyal Singh, apart from giving us such a great heritage, he also founded the Dyal Singh Colleges in various cities of the Punjab including one such institution in Delhi and the other in Lahore. Lahore was where the Tribune was originally printed.
Like the present Hindutva forces under which the Sikhs live today, it was these very forces that stole the loyalty of Sardar Majithia.
Today the Sikhs live under Hindutva rule and the Sikhs who go over to the Aam Admi Party, BJP – RSS, Congress party, CPI – CPM, Badal Akali Dal and other parties are no less defectors. People like Mr. Parkash Singh Badal and his kin and kinsmen who attend Hindu “havans”, adopt Tantrikism, or wear the Khamni or thread as an armlet, besides keeping their faith in the sovereignty of the Hindu Indian state are all like Sardar Dyal Singh.
It is a tragedy that today these trusts and The Tribune and its branches address the Sikhs as Terrorists, Extremists, Radicals and Hardliners. Read today’s (09 September,2020) The Tribune and one will read the word Terrorists used for Sikh’s
In 1984 when the late Premier Indira Gandhi in tandem with the BJP – RSS, Congress party, BJP – RSS, Congress party, CPI – CPM, and in collusion with the traditional Badal Akali Dal sent in the armed forces with the assistance of the Soviet and British armed forces to enter the holy shrine of the Darbar Sahib(The Golden Temple, Amritsar) in an ingress code named Operation Bluestar of 1984. It was the policy of The Tribune and its then Editor Prem Bhatia that lent unconditional moral and literary support to Indira Gandhi’s temerity to send three nuclear armed armies to battle the stateless Sikhs.
Whenever the state picks up a plan to destroy the Sikh faith and nationality, the Sikhs react like in history the Sikhs confronted the Moghal Empire, Afghan Rule, British Rule and today thousands of Sikhs have laid down their lives and souls to protect Sikhism.
This very spirit of Sikh tradition was alive and fighting when Sardar Dyal Singh defected to the Hindu fold. Then the Sikhs reacted peacefully to such tyranny and this reaction led to the foundation of the Singh Sabha Movement which was propelled by Giani Dit Singh and Prof. Gurmukh Singh, resulting in the ousting of the Hindu Mahants who had captured all the Sikh religious shrines and introduced Brahamical practices and rituals.
This very movement led to the passage of the Sikh Anand Marriage Act, the foundation of the Shriomani Akali Dal and the act – SGPC (Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee) that enabled the Sikhs, through this act, to govern their own religious shrines and institutions. This was a very bold step that legally and politically made the Sikhs a Sui Generis sovereign people.
It was the result of this struggle that made it possible for the full parliamentary House, the SGPC (Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee) to pass a resolution unanimously for a separate, independent and sovereign state of Khalistan in 1946.
It is a different matter that a British Government in London which ruled British India did not honour this democratic and Sikh Parliamentary(SGPC -Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee) resolution for a separate Sikh State, but partitioned British India into two parts, one for the Hindu’s being India and the other for the Muslims, that being Islamic Pakistan.
The point here is that though Britain is the mother of all democratically elected Parliaments, it gave away their colonial Empire to the Hindu’s and Muslim’s who had no Parliaments like the SGPC or a unanimous resolution for a separate Hindu and Muslim State.
Thereafter, the Sikhs today have suffered the arrogance and humiliation of the majoritarian Hindu state.
This was the reason why the Sikh leadership, the Sikh representatives to the Hindu constituted Constituent Assembly Sardar Hukam Singh and Sardar Bhupinder Singh Mann did not sign the Constitution of 1950, as the Hindu leaders Gandhi, Nehru and Patel who had promised the Sikhs that once the British established the Hindu Indian state, they the Hindu’s would give the Sikh’s an area where they would feel the glow of freedom. The Hindu leadership after 1947 reneged from all these promises and assurances they had given to the Sikh peoples. The Hindu leadership went to such an extent in its betrayal of the Sikh’s that the Anand Marriage act that was passed in 1909, this was totally abrogated once the present Hindu Indian state came into being in 1947.
If a Sikh is interested in following my speech as a Member of Parliament from 1999 to 2004 on this subject, that can be seen and heard on Youtube( ).
Since this struggle began in the 20th century under the Singh Sabha Movement, it has resolutely been carried forward by Sant Jarnail Singh Bhindrawale and after him by the Shriomani Akali Dal (Amritsar).
As result of exposing the traitors the newspaper founded by a Sikh philanthropist Sardar Dyal Singh Majithia, The Tribune, the reader will observe, does not publish the statements or work of the Shriomani Akali Dal (Amritsar). The Hindu Indian state has covertly informed its subdued and subsidized press and media that if they highlight the work of the Shriomani Akali Dal (Amritsar), it will give oxygen to the independence movement for a sovereign Sikh State that would be a buffer between three implacable nuclear armed states, these being- Hindu India, Islamic Pakistan and Communist China.
This cartography will not only satisfy the Sikh demand for a sovereign state but also create peace and tranquility for all times to come in South Asia.
