The growth of extra constitutional power of Premier Narinder Modi. – Simranjit Singh Mann
Press Statement of S. Simranjit Singh Mann, President Shiromani Akali Dal (Amritsar), Quilla S. Harman Singh, District Fatehgarh Sahib, Punjab Pin Code 140406
Premier Narinder Modi is reducing the power and influence of his political colleagues and Cabinet Ministers. In the Defence Ministry the Defence Minister Mr. Rajnath Singh has been seen to have been reduced in his influence in military matters. General Vipin Rawat appears to becoming the political head of the Defence Ministry. General Rawat insted of Mr. Rajnath Singh has announced the increase in the retirement age of Jawans. It is also seen, that for the first time the Defence Ministry, perhaps General Rawat has sent out fighter Jet Planes to deal with the skirmishes between the Chinese (PLA) and Hindu army in Ladakh. This may escalate into a bigger War. Our party opposes this. We stand for peace.
Similarly in Foreign Affairs in the External Affairs Ministry Premier Modi has selected a former IFS officer Mr. Jaishankar to head this Ministry, instead of picking a politician from the BJP-RSS.
Again in the National Security Advisor setup Premier Modi has selected an IPS officer Mr. Ajit Doval to head this organization. The NSA is an extra-Constitional entity which is not responsible to any Parliamentary committee or it’s funds are beyond audit of CAA (Comptroller Audits and Accounts).
Such appointments are much like the American system where the Secretaries of Departments are appointed by the President and are non-elected personnel.
Our party is concerned that Premier Modi’s appointments are going unnoticed by the Parliament, Press and media and the Hindutva leaders who comment on everything save the growing power of Premier Modi, who is steadily growing into a fascist leader. His growth to power is similar to Indira Gandhi’s. This is not democratic or Constitutional. Our party is concerned.
Simranjit Singh Mann,
