Shiromani Akali Dal (Amritsar) welcomes the thaw in relations between the two inimical states Hindu India and Islamic Pakistan.
We would request the extremist BJP- RSS
Union Government led by Premier Narendra Modi to reconsider its earlier hard line decision disallowing Sikh pilgrimage to Islamic Pakistan to observe the centenary of the massacre of Sikhs at Nankana Sahib by Mahant Narayan Das in 1921.
Our party considers the ban of the Hindu Indian state in observing this centenary as an insult to the Sikh religious freedom, which has been taken ill by the Sikhs worldwide.
Guru Nanak Sahib ordained that Sikhs are neither Hindus nor Muslims. The Sikhs henceforth have always considered themselves to be a separate religious entity and a separate independent nation. It is in this context that the Sikhs have not appreciated a ban on their pilgrimage to Islamic Pakistan where almost half their religious shrines, their Punjabi language, culture, art, cuisine and architecture lie.
For that matter the Hindu Indian state should now open up the corridor between Kartarpur Sahib and Dera Baba Nanak for daily pilgrimage to the holy Sikh shrine in Islamic Pakistan and such pilgrimages and visits of the Sikhs must never be stopped. The Sikhs are ambassadors of good faith and peace between the Muslims and Hindus.
Facta non Verba.
