Press statement of S Simranjit Singh Mann, President, Shiromani Akali Dal Amritsar.

The Ghallughara Divas, Genocide Day to be observed on 6th June this year and every year is a very sad and solemn day for the Sikh nation. On this day THIS (Theocratic Hindu Indian State’s) army assissisted by UK and Soviet forces stormed the holiest shrine of the Sikh’s , the Golden Temple (Darbar Sahib at Amritsar) in 1984 which has come to be known as the infamous Operation Bluestar. 25000 Sikh pilgrims and the young Sikh leadership with Sant Jarnail Singh Bhindranwala was butchered and eliminated by ruthless artillery, tank, mortar, helicopter gunship fire. SAS and other elite forces were also used. Being a solemn day for the Sikh nation, the Hindu state at the Union and provincial level is spreading false rumours that Sikh terrorists or infiltrators from Pakistan would commit inhuman strikes. The Hindu state must realise that the Sikh nation is in grief, pain and sadness. It should not rub salt into our wounds which have not healed with the passage of time. We are a civilized race. The Hindu English language press like The Tribune, HT, TOI and IE have become bitter and incurable enemies of the Sikh peoples. They must realise that one day they may also be in the same boat as the Sikh’s  are in today. We should resist causing pain to one another. The present killings of peaceful civilians in Kashmir by the armed forces must seize. Our party calls upon all Sikh’s  and humanitarian forces to attend the Genocide Day at the Golden Temple in Amritsar on 6th June 2017. They  must participate in our joint pain, crossing borders and converging from all over the world. There is still time to pack the baggage and fly into Amritsar to observe and pray for the souls of the martyrs who gave their lives for us, the living, to live in peace, honour and dignity today and ever afterwards.
