Press statement by Simranjit Singh Mann, President, Shiromani Akali Dal (Amritsar).

Press statement by Simranjit Singh Mann, President, Shiromani Akali Dal (Amritsar)-Dated: 20th June 2018.
Shiromani Akali Dal (Amritsar) does not support undemocratic means adopted by right wing extremist BJP-RSS Union government of Premier Narinder Modi to over throw the democratically elected government of Ms. Mehbooba Mufti in Kashmir.

The Kashmiri’s are fighting for their constitutional and democratic rights under article 370, of the Hindu states 1950 constitution, which were taken away by Nehru in 1953.

The Kashmiri’s stand for a peaceful plebiscite in the whole of Kashmir ordered by the UN Security Council.

Our party finds nothing wrong in the Kashmiri’s fighting for their legitimate democratic rights in accordance with UN charter.

Our party fears that Governor NN Vohra a radicalised Hindu, with the aid of the armed force will resort to unlimited and excessive executive pressure to crush the voice of the Kashmiri peoples.

Our party calls upon all democratic forces to rise and crush the forces of militant Hindutva ideology.

In 2000 the army massacred 43 innocent and peace loving Sikh’s of village Chittisinghpura in Kashmir. No legal action has been take by the Hindu state against the army officers and men, though our party has all along been requesting Governor NN Vohra to take criminal action against the perpetrators of this heinous crime against a miniscule Sikh minority in the Kashmir valley.

The law AFSPA (Armed Forces Special Power Acts) enforced by the Union government in Delhi gives draconian powers to the army, police and Para military forces to kill, maim, abduct, kidnap, rape, torture, detain unlawfully any person with impunity in Jammu & Kashmir province.

The sacking of a democratically elected government of Ms. Mufti and the ruthless laws which violate the rule of law and the principles of natural justice should be taken seriously by forces of democracy and peace.
