Press statement by Simranjit Singh Mann, President Shiromani Akali Dal (Amritsar)-Dated 22nd June 2018.
The murder of democracy in Jammu & Kashmir is condemnable as it is, but now the same extremist Hindutva BJP-RSS government at the Union under Premier Narinder Modi has inducted its radicalised commando force, the NSG to tackle the defenceless Kashmiri’s fighting for their democratic rights.
As it is article 21 of the Constitution that gives constitutional protection to life and liberty is un-functional in Kashmir, the AFSPA (Armed Forces Special Power Acts) law gives limitless powers to the army and security forces to kill, maim, rape, torture, abduct, kidnap, detain any person with impunity. The introduction of NSG will add fuel to the fire.
Shiromani Akali Dal (Amritsar) believes that to every action there is a reaction.
Our party fears that by taking extreme steps THIS (Theocratic Hindu Indian State) is unwittingly inviting a reaction in the way of ISIS of Abu Bakr Baghdadi and Al-Qaida stepping in to counter the NSG and the policy of excessive repression on its civilian population (Kashmiri’s) by the Hindu Indian state.
The Shia population of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladhak needs to be put under greater protection and security.
With the proclamation of presidential rule in Jammu & Kashmir, Governor NN Vohra who exercises extra-ordinary powers over life and death, will drag the border state into further civil strife.
As per the constitution the state is secular, but Governor Vohra heads the Hindu Vaisho Devi Temple trust as its Chairman and besides this is also incharge of carrying out the annual Hindu Amarnath pilgrimage.
This means that the Union government of Premier Narinder Modi violates its own constitution by giving Governor Vohra executive and theocratic powers to rule arbitrarily over the non-Hindu, Muslim and Sikh minority population of this state.
Governor Vohra has taken no action to assuage the hurt feelings of the miniscule Sikh minority population of Kashmir whose 43 innocent Sikhs were massacred in cold blood by the army in village Chittisinghpura in Kashmir in 2000.
The Sikh’s , as such repose no confidence in Mr. Vohra. Now the Muslim’s too do not trust him.
Our party hopes that saner wisdom will prevail and democracy is restored in this unfortunate border state.
