Nation honours its bravehearts
Comments by Simranjit Singh Mann: Shiromani Akali Dal (Amritsar) states that we feel that when military personnel receive decorations from the President they must wear their respective tunics. Officers presenting themselves with half sleeved shirts at such auspicious and formal occasions bring no credit to their respective service. We would think that the officers commanding these services should have known these investiture ceremonies are formal and not a high street “tamasha”.
If the Chief’s of the services overlooked this ceremony then the President has been given enough staff headed by a military secretary in the rank of a Major General to see the protocol for each occasion. Certain slackness has come into these military services, as a result of which officers are found with their slacks down and military installations are found porous when ill trained militants creep in creating havoc and embarrassment. We do hope the President will step in and dust the pants of the officers who have become slack, slothful and indolent.
