Dear Mr. Khare,

Please refer to your editorial page snippet by Mr. Ram Verma dated 2nd March 2018. I wish to state that a more cautious, circumspect and experienced bureaucrat, would not have stepped out of his house in the dead of night. Can anyone quote such a precedent expect when Indira Gandhi imposed the Emergency, or if a war is called. Otherwise a bureaucrat serves with dignity and honour, which he must defend at all times and at every cost. The Delhi Chief Secretary is senior enough to know that the Aam Admi Party has risen from the streets and therefore, they are all street fighters, ruffians and sometimes common criminals. Pre-warned about the party’s background he should have waited to meet the Chief Minister the next day. However, I feel that if the Chief Secretary has been roughed up, action should have been taken against the ruffians, which has now been taken and they are behind bars, where they deserve to be. But the Chief Minister cannot be absolved of what he saw happening to his senior most bureaucrats and he must apologise and suspend the offending legislators till a time the court decides their guilt or otherwise.

With regards,

Yours sincerely,

Simranjit Singh Mann,

Shiromani Akali Dal (Amritsar).
