Simranjit Singh Mann,
Shiromani Akali Dal (Amritsar).
The Editor, The Tribune,
Please refer to your news caption-“UK allows platform for Khalistan call to arms”, dated 12th August 2018 of your newspaper.
Your newspaper and the Union Government and its intelligence agencies have taken grave notice and affront to the UK government allowing the rally of Sikhs for Justice in London today. Your newspaper and the Union Government object to the UK government’s permission to hold this rally, which you and the latter claim that it will be a “platform for Khalistan”. The Sikhs for Justice state that they are holding a gathering to collect Sikh opinion for an Azad Punjab. They have not mentioned the word Khalistan.
My party and I wish to state that the policy of the Union Government when dealing with foreign powers is that the talks should be held with it by bilateral means and no third party should be allowed in such talks and disputes. This has been the policy in the Simla Agreement of this state, with which your newspaper has never disagreed.
Now the fact is that when Operation Bluestar, a military action against the stateless Sikh’s was ordered by the Indira Gandhi government in 1984 and this bloody action was supported by the BJP-RSS, CPI, CPM, Lok Dal and the traditional Akali’s and your worthy newspaper under the Editor Prem Bhatia.
Indira Gandhi and all these parties invited the British and the Soviet armed forces in tandem with the Indian army to enter the holy precincts of the Darbar Sahib (Golden Temple at Amritsar) in a barbaric battle that ensued. Your country and its Union Government and your newspaper did not object to the violation of the country’s sacrosanct bilateral policy or action when two third parties the British and the Soviet’s were invited to mercilessly massacre 26,000 Sikh pilgrims and eliminated the new and upcoming Sikh leadership under Sant Jarnail Singh Bhindranwala.
Now when Great Britain has allowed its territory to be used for the “platform for Khalistan”, we see no reason why your newspaper and the Union Government should object and raise a hue and cry for what the sovereign British government is following its age old policy to allow a gathering of Sikh’s to debate their future policy, as the Indian state has not addressed the grievances of the Sikh’s stemming from the crime of genocide, ethnic cleansing, mass murders and crimes against humanity perpetrated on them by the state and the silence by your newspaper on these abominable crimes.
My party and I state that what the Hindu state and the silence of your newspaper to these wretched crimes is that you all are now hoist to your own petard. For this we would state that what the Bible states-“Vengeance is mine saith the Lord and I shall recompense it”.
Our party would state that your newspaper, the state and Union governments should listen to the protests of thousands of Sikh’s sitting peacefully and democratically for over two months at Bargari seeking justice and recompense for the crimes committed by the Indian state on the Sikh peoples.
