If extra judicial murders by the armed forces are being probed then the massacre of 43 Sikh’s in village Chitthisinghpura in Kashmir must be investigated. Sikh’s will not rest till the perpetrators are not brought to trial. –Simranjit Singh Mānn

Comments by Simranjit Singh Mann: Shiromani Akali Dal (Amritsar) states that our Party has always held that AFSPA(Armed Forces Special Powers Act) is a draconian Law which is against the spirit and sense of the constitution as it defies articles 14,19and 21. It is unfortunate that the Supreme Court which is the custodian of the Constitution has not struck it down.
We Sikh’s have a grave grouse against this law as it gives the Security forces the unbridled right to kill, murder, kidnap, abduct, maim, molest and rape, keep in illegal custody or create disappearances of any person with Impunity.
In this context we have informed the Supreme Court, National Human Rights Commission, the Union Government and the J&K Governments that in 2000 on the eve of the then US President Bill Clinton’s visit, the armed forces massacred 43 Sikh’s, innocent and law abiding in village Chitthisinghpura of Kashmir. President Clinton’s Secretary of State Ms. Madelene Albright specifically mentions this barbaric act of the then BJP – RSS Union Government in her Memoirs. The needle of suspicion falls directly on the then Union Home Minister Mr. LK Advani.
If the extra judicial murders by the armed forces in Jammu and Kashmir are being probed then the present Lt. Governor Mr. Sinha of this UT must have this 20 year old extra judicial murder of innocent Sikh’s probed.
