The Tribune 3rd September 2018

Shiromani Akali Dal (Amritsar) states that our party has always stood for a independent and sovereign Sikh state, a buffer between three nuclear armed states-Islamic Pakistan, Communist China and THIS (Theocratic Hindu Indian State).

However, our party has never heard of acceleration in the pace of the “revival of the Khalistan movement”, as the right wing Hindutva newspaper The Tribune reports. We think that the Hindu mind has got paranoid to the question of Sikh and Dalit independence and self rule.

I am reminded of attending a large Dalit gathering on 1st January 2018 of Mahars at Bhima Koregaon earlier this year. This gathering marked the military victory of the oppressed Mahars over the Brahminical Peshwas. I was stunned over the thousands of poor and working class Dalits that had come to celebrate a victory over the Brahmins who had condemned them to slavery and humiliation ever since the Aryan invasion of the sub-continent.

My party of the Akali Dal and I were camping in Poona two nights before the rally was to take place at Bhima Koregaon. What struck us were the news reports in the English printed newspapers that the right wing ultra Hindu political parties like the BJP-RSS and their cohorts were bracing up for a fight with the Mahar congregations at Koregaon. I thought that since the newspapers were advertising a fight between the Mahars and the upper crust of the Hindu’s, the state police, Paramilitary forces and the intelligence system of the Union and the Maharashtra state would be preparing for the essential law and order duties on that critical day.

However, to my surprise on 1st January 2018 when we set off for Koregaon from Poona we saw very few policemen on law and order and traffic duty. No reserves of the police were to be seen as we reached the dias from where a great many people, women, children, men and the elderly were gathered. Midway in the function we could hear riotous distractions but nevertheless we carried on with our programme. Later on we saw total chaos with people running hither and thither without a purpose as a stampede became evident. There was firing and shreeks. We vended our way back to Poona as best as we could, witnessing women and children with worried looks taking the direction to their respective homes. Transport facilities had been totally cut off as of purpose we gathered. Later we came to know that a number of Dalits had been killed. It was horrid and sad.

We learnt that a BJP-RSS Hindu fanatic who was revered by the higher Hindu castes, even Premier Narinder Modi, one Mr. Bhide was responsible for all the rioting and killing that took place that day. We thought that the law would take its course and Mr. Bhide and his cohorts would be arrested and made accountable for their misdeeds. But this was not to happen and the right wing Hindu ultra BJP-RSS government in Maharashtra was to spin an unbelievable story that some left wing Maoists and Naxalites theorists wanted to kill Premier Narinder Modi, as a result very well known intellectuals have been arrested, the state being of the view that they have conspired to eliminate the Prime Minister, which we think is a lot of poppy cock emanating from the convoluted sick mind of the fanatic Hindu’s who are responsible for the vile murders of Lingyats such as Narendra Dabholkar, Govind Pansare, MM Kalburgi and Gauri Lankesh and the rioting at Koregaon and otherwise spinning stories about the “revival of the Khalistan movement”. We think that THIS (Theocratic Hindu Indian State) is on a collision course with its own people, at a period when a detente has come about between China and Russia and the peripheral independent states on India’s borders like Pakistan, Nepal, Bhutan, Bangladesh, Burma, Sri Lanka and Maldives have swung into the Sino-Russian orbit.
