The Tribune 10th June 2017
Comments by Simranjit Singh Mann:
Shiromani Akali Dal (Amritsar) states that we condemn the attempts of Premier Narinder Modi and his CBI to gag the press and its freedom, especially in the case of NDTV founder Pranoy Roy who is an unbiased journalist. However, we disapprove the absence of The Tribune editor Mr. Harish Khare and the editor of Ajit, Mr. Barijinder Singh. These are the two main newspapers of the Punjab. If the process of extreme Hindu carries on like this the day is not far when the editors of The Tribune and Ajit will find themselves in the same boat as Mr. Roy.
We Sikh’s have a grave grudge against Hindu journalists who invariably refer to Sikh’s as terrorists, radicals, hardliners and extremists. This they do at the drop of the hat whenever they find an opportunity to hurt us.
In the picture above we see Mr. Arun Shourie. In 1984 he was the editor of The Indian Express and like his fellow editors in The Tribune Prem Bhatia, Times of India editor Giri Lal Jain and the Hind Samachar’s Lala Jagat Ram, they with a single purpose wrote day and night to compel the Hindu state headed by Indira Gandhi, assisted by AB Vajypee, LK Advani of the BJP-RSS and the CPI, CPM parties to have the state bombard the Darbar Sahib (Golden Temple) at Amritsar with the joint artillery, mortar, tanks and helicopter gunships of the Hindu state, Great Britain and Soviet Russia. In this sad misadventure these three nuclear powers not only reduced the Sikh sacred shrines to rubble but also killed the Sikh young leadership headed by Sant Jarnail Singh Bhindranwala and the All India Sikh Students Federation. There were 25,000 Sikh pilgrims that day who had come to the Darbar Sahib (Golden Temple) at Amritsar to pray at the holy altar in the memory of V Guru Arjun Sahib’s martyrdom.
After this criminal, heinous massacre and vandalism the tri-country’s armed forces carried away the Sikh Reference Library and the Toshakhana (Treasury), which has yet to be given back to the Sikh’s. The plunder of this library and artefacts by the tri-armed forces is not only uncivilised and barbaric but with this these forces have also stolen our memory and history. The Nazi regime in World War II did just this with the general world and the Jews.
We Sikh’s are a stateless unarmed nation and we have requested the Hindu journalists time out of number not to refer to us in these uncouth terms thinking we are rustics and hilly billiys. The Sikh’s feel that they can find and espouse their nationalism, only if they are free and independent and unshackled from the Hindu state.
A Sikh independent, sovereign buffer state wedged between three nuclear armed states- Islamic Pakistan, Communist China and THIS (Theocratic Hindu Indian State) which are all implacable enemies and at one another’s throat is the only possible, logical and sensible method to create peace and tranquillity in South Asia. The Hindu must shed his hubris, arrogance and jingoism against the minority Sikh peoples.
