Comments by Simranjit Singh Mann: Shiromani Akali Dal (Amritsar) states that how would the author Lt Gen Syed Ata Hasnain feel if our party suggested to this General that before humbling and humiliating China over the Daklam incident our party suggests that the brave and intrepid armed forces of the Hindu state recover the territory in Ladakh that was conquered by the Chinese in 1962. It is a huge chunk of territory measuring 39,000 sq kms.
We would remind the General that Ladakh was annexed by the Lahore Darbar (Sikh Empire in 1709 to 1849) in 1834.
We would also suggest to the General who has commanded a Corp in Kashmir to press upon the Hindu state to stop the state terror on the helpless Kashmiri people who can be shot dead, maimed, kidnapped, abducted, tortured, held in illegal custody and raped with impunity under the draconian law-AFSPA (Armed Forces Special Powers Act) which contravenes article 21 of the constitution.
We must remember that the Nuremburg trials after World War II laid down a principle that what heinous crimes the armed forces in Kashmir are committing could go before an International War Crimes Court.
