Shiromani Akali Dal (Amritsar) states that the Supreme Court is well within its jurisdiction to annul and scrap the unconstitutional law AFSPA (Armed Forces Special Powers Act) which defies the basic structure of the constitution in article 21 which states that no person can be deprived of his life and liberty without following the procedure laid down by law.
Under AFSPA the armed forces have been given a free run to kill, maim, kidnap, abduct, rape, torture any person with impunity. In 2000 the army massacred 43 innocent and peace loving Sikh’s in village Chittisinghpura in Kashmir and no scalawag has been brought to justice. We appeal to the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court to bring these offenders before the law and rescind this unconstitutional and inhuman law-AFSPA (Armed Forces Special Powers Act).
