Shiromani Akali Dal (Amritsar) states that the Sikh’s are a stateless people. Our party has been representing the stateless Sikh’s ever since Operation Bluestar in 1984 when the Hindu state’s armed forces in league with the Soviet and British forces reduced our holiest shrine the Darbar Sahib (Golden Temple) at Amritsar to rubble. The Sikh’s thereafter have suffered the crime of genocide by the Hindu state, with impunity. Our party has stood alone, without help from any quarter. The UN Human Rights Commission, Asia watch, Amnesty International and some democratic countries which support Human Rights have been looking the other way.
Islamic Pakistan is a sovereign country with a strong military force and a nuclear arsenal. Therefore if we have faced the fury of a nuclear armed Hindu state, and that too being a stateless people, we do not see why at this stage Islamic Pakistan cannot stand alone with dignity and courage.
Ruskin Bond, great writer states- “You are strongest when you stand alone”.
The Sikh’s through their short history have proved what Ruskin Bond has written a short time ago.
Cunningham an English historian of the Sikh’s writes- “the Sikh’s dare and endure but never accept defeat”.
