Comments by Simranjit Singh Mann: Shiromani Akali Dal (Amritsar) states that our party does not support capital punishment. And we are happy that Qatar has repealed the capital punishment.
If Qatar an Islamic state can be liberal and show human feelings and waive off capital punishment, why the Hindu Indian state cannot repeal the death sentence of S. Balwant Singh Rajoana and set free hundreds of Sikh political prisoners, imprisoned under inhuman conditions for the last 32 years.
And why cannot the Punjab state withdraw the cases against 9 Sikh prisoners detained under NSA in Dibrugarh jail in Assam. In Assam the Sikh prisoners are living in inhuman conditions, the climate does not suit them, mosquito’s bite into their flesh and leeches stick to their flesh and draw blood from ill-fed Sikh prisoners, who receive meagre medical help.
These are the reasons why our party states that no person of Hindu Indian origin living abroad should be deported or extradited back to the Hindu Indian state. I my self have suffered imprisonment for five years in various jails of the Hindu Indian state and I am well conversed with the prevailing conditions in the jails in this country.
I am a Member of Parliament today and have saught permission to visit the Tihar Jail and inquire about the conditions prevailing in this Delhi jail and meet important political Sikh and Kashmiri prisoners like Bhai Jagtar Singh Hawara, Shabir Shah and Yasin Malik, but permission is invariably denied, which means there is no transparency and the conditions are inhuman.
