Without a militant act a peaceful boycott of Islamic countries is worse. Simranjit Singh Mann, Member of Parliament.

The Tribune dated 24th May 2023

Comments by Simranjit Singh Mann: Shiromani Akali Dal (Amritsar) states that our party ever sense 2019 when the extremist BJP-RSS Hindutva Union Government abrogated the autonomy of Jammu & Kashmir as guaranteed under the Constitution of 1950, we have been stating that this step in a border state where Muslims are in majority should have been reconsidered and status quo ante be restored.

The barbaric law AFSPA (Armed Forces Special Powers Act) which is un-constitutional should have been declared ultra vires the Constitution by the Supreme Court. But the extremist Hindutva state has refused to give the minorities any relief. This is evident and what the US Commission on International Religious Freedom has said and indicted the Hindu state.

Our party supported the G-20 meet that was to take place in Kashmir’s Srinagar. There was no incident of militancy. This is good but a peaceful protest always gathers more momentum than a militant act. Therefore, the fact that big Islamic countries boycotted the G-20 meet in Srinagar would have grave consequences with Hindu India’s diplomacy and working with the Islamic countries.

We hope that what was done in 2019 as a fanatic Hindu act would be undone so that democracy and secularism begin to prevail again.

As far as Communist China is concerned, the fact that it did not attend this meet in Kashmir is in a way good, for had the Communist’s attended, they would have only seen the reflection what they are doing in their province of Sinkiang and its Ujgar Muslim people.
