What role does THIS have in the Russian – Ukraine war as it accepts Russian aggression of Ukraine in 2014 and subsequently in 2020 and thereafter? – Simranjit Singh Mann

The Tribune Dated 22nd March 2023.

Comments by Sardar Simranjit Singh Mann: Shiromani Akali Dal (Amritsar) states that as per the Hindutva right wing Newspaper The Tribune in its editorial dated 22nd March 2023, states that THIS(Theocratic Hindu Indian state) had a role to play in the Russian – Ukraine war. We think this is just the imagination of the majoritarians as the Hindu state has a weak economy and militarily it is ill – equipped and therefore its diplomacy hangs on mere propaganda built up on a strong Hindutva Media and Press.

In fact Communist China is racing ahead by uniting the two schism of Islam – Shia’s and Sunni’s. This will have a wide effect on the politics of South Asia, the Gulf and the Middle East. The Hindu state has been suppressing its minorities over a long period of time, especially the Muslims and presently the Sikh’s are its latest whipping boys.

Communist China has made the latest move in bringing peace to the warring camps of Russia and Ukraine. Our Party would suggest that if peace is to be brokered then Communist China must have Russia go back to its boundary with Ukraine as it was in 1991. All aggression of Ukraine will have to be given up.

If the Hindu Indian state wants to play the role of a peacemaker we would have to know whether it will stick by the erstwhile boundary of Russia and Ukraine as it existed in 1991?

The Hindu Indian state will also have to tell us that since Russia annexed Donetsk, Luhansk, Kherson and Zaporozhe of Ukraine and held referendums in these territories and as a result declared them as Russian territory, would the Hindu state accept the referendums and subsequent territories of Russia? Now what would its position be on the UN Security Council Resolution of 1948 of holding a plebiscite in Kashmir? It must also tell us why it objects to the Sikh’s holding referendums in Western Democracies?

Elections, referendums, plebiscites and right to self -determination are the basic instruments of democracy to decide the will of the people peacefully and democratically. What is the stand of the Hindu Indian state on these democratic principles? Will its Union Home Ministry order the holding of elections to the Sikh Parliament the Shiromani Gurudwara Parbandhak Committee which came into being by an act of law in 1925? Elections to this Sikh Parliament have not been held for the last twelve years. Presently it is a lame duck Parliament. Does the Hindu Indians state believe it is a democracy? Sometimes it pats its back by calling itself the largest democracy in the world?

Our Party thinks that the presumption of The Tribune that the Hindu Indian state has a role to play in the Ukraine – Russian war is mere irrational and redundant. The Tribune must see into the struggle of the Sikh’s fairly as the Hindu Indian state has launched a wide hunt for their heads. Which side is The Tribune on?
